Joy, Indeed (or, Bad Valentine's Day Poetry)

O great stitch, you stockinette,
Knit in the round, your instructions
art so faithful, always:
Knit Knit Knit
Around and around:
Knit Knit Knit
A place of honor--First!
In all the stitch dictionaries,
yet shunned for fancier cousins:
complex cables, complicated lace.
Never failing, you go on:
Knit Knit Knit
and beyond your simplicity,
your basic beauty, one more fine quality
shines through--
you’re fast.

Intarsia, you’re another story.

The Hood

This is the Cardinal Joy Hoodie (by Betty Christiansen) from Handknit Holidays by Melanie Falick.

I like that it has hemmed edges--I've not tried that technique yet. The yarn is from my giant pile of Jo Sharp DK Wool.

I think the red cardinal is going to look really great on the green.

Another Baby Surprise Jacket

I forgot to show the button I used on Calorimetry. It's an antler button.
I didn't do any gauge checking on this project, and it ended up too big. I kind of tie it behind my head and then do the button.

I made this Baby Surprise Jacket in October of last year, but only recently put the cute little buttons on it.

The yarn is by Tahki--"Shannon" 100% Wool, 92 yds and 50 grams per ball. I got partway into the 4th ball.

This is such a nice, fun pattern!

Blue Baby Bog

Finished! This is the Bog Jacket by Elizabeth Zimmermann,
adjusted a bit to get the measurements I wanted for friends' almost-here baby.
